Their new innovation, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.efeeler.fi\/\">the eFeeler controller<\/a>, is integrated into the building\u2019s electrical system and controlled via an easy-to-use mobile app. The controller monitors the price of electricity on the exchange in real time, and provides the user with an easy way to optimize the use of connected electrical appliances at the most advantageous times. Read more!<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t\n\t<div id=\"heading-block-block_8d8e4726e244ea182482d8d92da22394\" class=\"heading-block\">\n\t\t<h4 >Starting points for the cooperation \u2714\ufe0f<\/h4>\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"text-block-block_a97ca4d2e75c5679c64c6851131188a8\" class=\"text-block \">\n\t\t\t<p>The collaboration between 3D Formtech, Xedi, and LINK Design And Development Oy started in December 2022, when Xedi needed a manufacturer for the electronics of the eFeeler controller. We went through the client\u2019s needs, the manufacturability of the part, and a review of the optimized production batch. We first produced a batch of 10 models based on 3D models made by <strong>Ilkka Husgafvelin<\/strong> of <a href=\"https:\/\/linkdesign.fi\/en\/\">LINK Design And Development Oy<\/a>, who was responsible for the design of the part. One of the benefits of industrial 3D printing is that it allows you to go from design to manufacturing very quickly, and from the first prototypes you can make <strong>rapid changes without high costs or initial investment.<\/strong><\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"image-block_b6640c1fa3c9fbf00501f009d38b105f\" class=\"image-block\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"image-container\" style=\"width: px; height: \n\t\tauto;\">\n\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/3dformtech.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/2.png\" alt=\"3d formtech xedi\">\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t \n\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div id=\"text-block-block_51950031e7ea64cf96e86be3940eb10b\" class=\"text-block \">\n\t\t\t<p>Xedi had previous experience with 3D printing for prototyping, but they approached the small batch production with an open mind. <strong>\u201cWe wanted to save on molding costs<\/strong>, and ended up with discussions with 3D Formtech. I went to see how industrial 3D printing can be used to manufacture enclosures, and I\u2019ve been really pleased\u201d, says <strong>Juha M\u00e4ki<\/strong>, Electronics Specialist at Xedi Oy.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\t\n\t<div id=\"heading-block-block_7d98cc236a9a2ea5a399608e2760c957\" class=\"heading-block\">\n\t\t<h4 >Faster design and clear cost savings with 3D printing \u2714\ufe0f<\/h4>\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"text-block-block_4e82e00052efa883e8bfc5ec13f40a7c\" class=\"text-block \">\n\t\t\t<p>Husgafvelin, who was responsible for part design, mechanical engineering, and design, says that the <strong>main benefits of industrial 3D printing are fast design and manufacturing, low initial investment, and design freedom.<\/strong> \u201cTechnologies have come a long way in the last few years! If the same part had been produced by injection molding, it would have required more design attention to the constraints and laws of the mold. In addition, <strong>the mold would have cost thousands of euros to make, and the product would have taken about a year to be completed.\u201d<\/strong> By 3D printing the enclosure around the electronics in just <strong>1.5 months<\/strong>, Xedi was able to pre-market and sell the new product quickly, efficiently, and without large upfront investments and large inventories.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"image-block_ee2f1229aaf1ad3737e347e6fd2359c1\" class=\"image-block\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"image-container\" style=\"width: px; height: \n\t\tauto;\">\n\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/3dformtech.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/3.png\" alt=\"efeeler 3d-tulostus\">\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t \n\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div id=\"text-block-block_454648aef846b6f69c02baa3ef2baee0\" class=\"text-block \">\n\t\t\t<p>\u201cThis is a good example of how <strong>a company doesn\u2019t need to tie up large amounts of money in molds or produce large batches of stock in advance.<\/strong> 3D printing offers <strong>flexibility<\/strong>, as parts can be produced quickly and agilely as orders come in. This enables a company to quickly enter the market with new innovation and the customer does not have to wait six months\u201d, summarizes <strong>Lasse-Matti Nieminen<\/strong> at 3D Formtech.<\/p>\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n<div id=\"image-block_58e46b236610660061b570e6d4932fd8\" class=\"image-block\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"image-container\" style=\"width: px; height: \n\t\tauto;\">\n\t\t\t<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/3dformtech.fi\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/03\/4.png\" alt=\"3d tulostus v\u00e4rj\u00e4ys\">\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t \n\n\t<\/div>\n\n\n\n\n<div id=\"text-block-block_683c8a4bd8e07cf22542271476f63aac\" class=\"text-block \">\n\t\t\t<p><strong>PA2200<\/strong> was chosen as the material for the part, and it is well suited for a wide range of plastic prints. It is strong and highly resistant to mechanical stress and chemicals. The material is plastic-like in appearance, and allows for precise details in the product. At 3D Formtech, part finishing always involves ensuring the surface finish is blown to perfection. The parts were post-treated <strong>by dyeing<\/strong> them black, and treating the outer surface <strong>with a water and oil repellent micro-coating <\/strong>to keep them neat and easy to clean.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/3dformtech.fi\/en\/post-processing\/\">&gt;&gt; Read more about the post-treatment of 3D printed parts here!<\/a><\/p>\n<p>At Xedi, we are very satisfied with the quality of the parts produced by 3D Formtech. <strong>\u201cThe quality has exceeded our expectations!<\/strong> From what I\u2019ve seen of 3D printed prototypes in general, they have been crude and of poor quality. However, <strong>the parts made by 3D Formtech are like molded parts and of really high quality!\u201d<\/strong>, M\u00e4ki comments.
